Perfect Forest Light

I would have to say last sunday was one of the most perfect days with the most perfect light.  I am not sure if I am just sun deprived at the moment and can feel Australia just around the corner, but you judge for yourself! I am very impressed with this family with their lovely choice of colours for their Christmas family photoshoot.  It all came together perfectly (NB. I have now used the P word 4 times since the title).

Thankyou to the family for letting me use their photos for this blog.  It would have been a shame not to show this lighting.  Contre-jour or backlighting isn't so easy but it just seemed like it was going to work out on sunday and it did!

Get out of the studio and into nature! :-)

Enjoy!

The Sun Came Out To Play!

We have had some very dark weeks this November I always forget how dark it can actually be.  Especially when there is no snow still.  But sunday was THE most beautiful, perfect weather for a photoshoot.  So I did 3! I never do more than one in one day, but I had a lot to catch up on since we are away all December and the day couldn't have been better. Mild weather, lovely light and fun families.

The sweet 7 year old in this photoshoot was suddenly not wanting her photo taken and just wanted to do a "grumpy face" for alot of the photos in the beginning.  She finally warmed up to my charms and the two girls made me laugh so much.  It was fun editing these pictures because there was a bigger story behind alot of the poses and smiles.  The first two photos were because their mum was peaking out from behind me.  Them looking up at me was them thinking they could see my eye through the lens and in fact I was taking a photo of me in their eyes ;-)

I must add how sorry I am to all the customers I have missed due to going away early this year.  I have never had to say no to so many people and I feel terrible about it.  At the same time it is very nice to kow that there are so many people that did want photos with me :-)

We haven't had a Christmas in Australia since 2004! Our kids have never had a Christmas in Oz and are trying to work out how it could possibly be no snow and hot there!! And that Santa still wears a warm red suit :-) Maybe I will do a personal blogpost from our trip.  I already have plans to do a dance shoot in my hometown at sunset which should be fun!

Enjoy!

Even and Tuva

Big sister Tuva had a photoshoot with me when she was 1. Back then I was still developing my style but some of her photos I still use today as examples of my best work.

Monday I got to meet her little brother Even who is now 1.  He was just adorable and had the best little facial expressions.  A very happy little man indeed and he was such a good model I finished up a whole photoshoot in 30mins, which never ever happens with a 3 year old and a 1 year old. It was just wonderful!

Enjoy!

Even is wearing Kaklebuksa "Olaf på tur". Tuva is wearing a dress from Eplebarn.  They both seem to be matching my logo very well ;-)

The 3 Sisters

I had to do a short blogpost on the 3 girls all together.  Cathrine and Arild came back to me with their 3 lovely daughters the day after the big photoshoot so that we could get everyone together.  Even though Miss Elise, 3.5 years old was not really keen on having her photo taken and little Adelen really wasn't happy about lying down without her mum, I managed to get a couple of lovely ones...and that's what counts right? :-) Celine is at that wonderful age where she is very happy to have her photo taken.  A little supermodel.  There is something about that photo of her lying on the floor that makes my heart feel like it skips a beat.  All 3 sisters are just beautiful.

Gratulerer Cathrine og Arild!

Enjoy!

Cathrine and Adelen

I really had so much fun with these series'. I got to know two great women and their stories over a 7-8 month period.  Now Adelen has come into the world and my secret keeping has come to an end once more...sigh.  I hope I will have the opportunity to do more of these.  They are really very special.

Cathrine is such a beautiful girl and had such an amazing belly at the end! She was a real natural, and I captured her a few times laughing.  I love those photos and the one of her sitting cross legged on the floor.

We spent quite a few hours getting little miss Adelen to sleep when they came to visit.  She is one of those babies like mine, that are happy to sleep as long as they are in the warm, loving arms of their mother until you put them down.  But she gave up in the end and we got a sleeping baby :-)

Enjoy!

Thanks to Eplebarn for the loan of the lovely colourful blanket from their playroom :-)

Send me an email if you would like to have a series like this done.  Each photoshoot is short until you come back to me with the baby.  I recommend from about 3 months pregnant.  That is 8 photoshoots total at a very reasonable price.

The Last Autumn Day

It was a crisp Autimn sunday.  The leaves and ground were dry.  I complained that there was a little too much sunshine and knew that I shouldn't be saying things like that.  Leaf angels were even made.  Little did we know that it would be snow the next day! We didn't get to quite finish the photoshoot because of a tired little guy, so decided to do more the next day, but had to do indoor photos as it was not really the greatest weather outside.  My black background isn't really for families but we squashed them in and it turned out quite nice.  I also got to use my sunroom probably for the last time this year as it gets pretty cold in there.
I want to take more photos of adorable 7 year old boys that say such lovely things as Isac who said he was so looking forward to seeing the pictures.  What 7 year old says that? Thanks Elin for a nice two day photoshoot with your beautiful boys.
Enjoy!

Pregnancy Series No.1

Kine won a competition back around Easter.  Everyone needed to send me their reason why I should give them a free photoshoot.  Kines' was so heart felt that I couldn't even consider anyone elses.  This was the one.

I have wanted to do a pregnancy series for so long now and after someone had asked about if I did them I thought...well yes I can, I just haven't before.  I especially find it wonderful that Norwegians are becoming more open to this style of photography.  I had the freedom to do what I wanted, and felt completely trusted.  This always helps my creativity :-)  I wanted to do something a bit different to the pregnancy series' I have seen before where the stomach just grows and the subject stays in the same position the whole time.  This is pretty cool, but I wanted Kines personality to shine too.  How she was feeling at the time in her pregnancy should be an important thing to show in the photographs.

Now I am just waiting for "pregnancy series no.2" to come and have her baby photos taken.  She just had her baby yesterday and I so much look forward to taking her last photos but sad it's already come to an end!

Anyway without out further ramblings...
Enjoy!

Sorry this one is so small...

Would you consider having a series done?

Ileana

This lovely little toddler visited me a couple of weeks ago.  She was a typical full of beans, wiggly toddler.  Always a challenge for me and I managed to get some nice ones :-) Lille Petter Edderkopp (Incy Wincy Spider) and playing peek-a-boo did the trick ;-)  I really like my little studio too! It does it's job in the cold months.
Enjoy!

Mini Natural Light Studio

My tagline to my business name is "Bilder i deres eget miljø" - photos in your own environment, which I am very proud of has worked very well in Norway so far.  A land where people get alot of studio portraits with white backgrounds recently, and before that marble backgrounds...
*Disclaimer - not that there is anything wrong with that.
So I have also come to realise the psychology behind studio portraits, where it is easy or somewhat necessary because of the weather conditions.  People don't always have good light at home when wanting something more natural either, or the space or the capacity for cleaning up before the photographer comes over.
My big plan when buying our new house was to build a natural light studio in the storeroom down stairs.  It's a perfect whole room size with plenty of space.  Just needs some windows and a whole bunch of renovating and it will be done.  But buying a 80 year old house isn't always so easy.  We have a bathroom that is in desperate need of renovation so that has now been the priority unfortunately.
I somehow completely overlooked the room we have upstairs in our house that has two skylights with wonderful light pouring in most days.  So I have removed our sofa, bought a couple of floors and a wall for a temporary solution to my studio space.  It's not the most ideal and I am sure some people might think this isn't very professional, but I want to be around for along time to come and I have been buildng my business slowly to make sure things go ok.  And so far they have been going better than I ever anticipated so I am very happy!
Anyone that knows me, will tell you I am very down to earth and I want you to feel comfortable with me and I think this is the perfect temporary solution for people that don't have the space at home and want lovely portraits without bright lights and a normal studio feel.  This is you in my house, relaxing while I photograph your child.
Ah did I forget to mention? This is really just for newborn babies up to small children.  I also do pregnant women here because of the wonderful lighting and I have a backdrop that I can cut before and after photos together (2 series' of these will be coming up on the blog very very soon!)
Anyway, I thought I needed to get some information out there for people that were maybe unsure about what I did.  And of course dont' forget that I actually do speak quite good Norwegian, but here it's all English so that everyone understands ;-)

Here are a couple of photos I did of my one and only top model Isabel last month.  Also the last 3 blogposts before the family are all in the same space.  Any questions feel free to email me at jessica@fluidphotography.no
Enjoy!

Fall Family Favourites

My family have been friends with these guys since they moved down the road from us a few years back. A great American family that have moved to Norway and I personally hope will stay! ;-)
We have been talking about doing photos for years and we have finally done it.  It was really fun! The girls are hilarious and them hanging from trees towards the end was a fun highlight even though it scared me a bit.  They a serious monkeys though :-)
Another very easy family to photograph and the perfect little models.  Thanks Renee and Rodger for letting me photograph your lovely family.
Enjoy!
