Mini Natural Light Studio

My tagline to my business name is "Bilder i deres eget miljø" - photos in your own environment, which I am very proud of has worked very well in Norway so far.  A land where people get alot of studio portraits with white backgrounds recently, and before that marble backgrounds...
*Disclaimer - not that there is anything wrong with that.
So I have also come to realise the psychology behind studio portraits, where it is easy or somewhat necessary because of the weather conditions.  People don't always have good light at home when wanting something more natural either, or the space or the capacity for cleaning up before the photographer comes over.
My big plan when buying our new house was to build a natural light studio in the storeroom down stairs.  It's a perfect whole room size with plenty of space.  Just needs some windows and a whole bunch of renovating and it will be done.  But buying a 80 year old house isn't always so easy.  We have a bathroom that is in desperate need of renovation so that has now been the priority unfortunately.
I somehow completely overlooked the room we have upstairs in our house that has two skylights with wonderful light pouring in most days.  So I have removed our sofa, bought a couple of floors and a wall for a temporary solution to my studio space.  It's not the most ideal and I am sure some people might think this isn't very professional, but I want to be around for along time to come and I have been buildng my business slowly to make sure things go ok.  And so far they have been going better than I ever anticipated so I am very happy!
Anyone that knows me, will tell you I am very down to earth and I want you to feel comfortable with me and I think this is the perfect temporary solution for people that don't have the space at home and want lovely portraits without bright lights and a normal studio feel.  This is you in my house, relaxing while I photograph your child.
Ah did I forget to mention? This is really just for newborn babies up to small children.  I also do pregnant women here because of the wonderful lighting and I have a backdrop that I can cut before and after photos together (2 series' of these will be coming up on the blog very very soon!)
Anyway, I thought I needed to get some information out there for people that were maybe unsure about what I did.  And of course dont' forget that I actually do speak quite good Norwegian, but here it's all English so that everyone understands ;-)

Here are a couple of photos I did of my one and only top model Isabel last month.  Also the last 3 blogposts before the family are all in the same space.  Any questions feel free to email me at jessica@fluidphotography.no
Enjoy!

Fall Family Favourites

My family have been friends with these guys since they moved down the road from us a few years back. A great American family that have moved to Norway and I personally hope will stay! ;-)
We have been talking about doing photos for years and we have finally done it.  It was really fun! The girls are hilarious and them hanging from trees towards the end was a fun highlight even though it scared me a bit.  They a serious monkeys though :-)
Another very easy family to photograph and the perfect little models.  Thanks Renee and Rodger for letting me photograph your lovely family.
Enjoy!

The Boy That Never Sleeps

Now, I was told from the start that this handsome little man was not going to sleep for me.  At 3 months I don't usually expect it either.  On top of the fact that he doesn't usually sleep in the day, he wakes easily if you touch him, make any sudden noises...that sort of thing. So when I saw after just a short while that he seemed tired, I thought, well we can always try, and if I get a couple of sleepy shots I will be one happy photographer! :-) If not, he had the most beautiful eyes to photograph anyway. So suddenly he is asleep, we lie him down, move him a couple of times, I place a beanie (hat/lue) on his head, socks on his sweet little feet and he sleeps and sleeps and sleeps.
Just call me the magic photographer with the sleepy fairy dust ;-) The mother Trine actually said "This has never happened" and then "mind if I go take a nap?".  Hmm...maybe I can incorperate this somehow into my business.  Photographer/sleep training/rest place for new mothers ;-)
With just a touch of autumn this time.
Enjoy!

Little Linnea

I had a lovely few days with baby photoshoots the other week.  This time I had the chance to meet sweet little Linnea.  She was born 6 months ago, but 2 months early.  She is a very happy smiley baby.  Smiles all the time in fact until you put a camera in her face.  It was quite incredible to see.  Smiling - camera - serious! hehe! It made me laugh and it was a real challenge to work out how to trick her, which I managed to do a few times.  She was cute no matter if she was smiling or not and I loved her bubble blowing and cute noises she made. I loved her green cardigan too.  What a fabulous colour! Green is my favourite ;-)
I probably could have done sleeping photos of her too, since her mum said she fell asleep as soon as they left me.  Oh well...
Anyway more Autumn themed photos.  I have to get the most out of these beautiful leaves while they last.  They are falling fast!
Enjoy!

Autumn Amilia

I took photos of Amilias' big sister when she was about the same age.  I love when I can do what I want in a shoot.  I also love when mothers come with fun ideas.  She was wanting a really Autumn themed photoshoot and she sure got that.  The red maple is so pretty and went very well with her clothes and the blankets.  It was nice to do some more simple ones too without the leaves and pumpkins for a more natural feel.  I love when 3 month olds sleep for me!

I have finally set up a temporary mini studio for clients that want to come to me.  It's all natural light! I think that is the most important factor in my photography and especially for babies.  They don't want bright light flashing in front of their faces.  Plus I just don't like flash...fullstop.  I have bought two new floors and a wall which I can manipulate.  Look forward to seeing many more babies before Christmas :-)
Enjoy!
